History of Bellavista Coffee
In 2012, Mexico was hit by coffee rust (a disease that attacks coffee makers), production fell by 70%, which severely affected small coffee producers who account for 90% of Mexico's coffee production. The company Exportadora de Café California (ECC) has designed and implemented a programme to continue growing coffee for the coming years.
The Por Mas Café programme of ECC, which is now part of NKG BLOOM (Neumann Kaffee Gruppe), offers producers, plants grown in its nursery, as well as technical and agricultural assistance, access to high quality fertilizers, as well as access to financing and a guarantee of coffee purchase, with the aim of ensuring a healthy future for coffee in Mexico. The program has renewed nearly 5000 hectares in Mexico and worked with more than 4,500 producers.
